A simple procedure for the covalent grafting of triphenylphosphine ligands on silica: application in the palladium catalyzed Suzuki reaction

Abstract: An organic-inorganic hybrid material derived from covalently grafting a palladium complex of the type (L)(2)PdCl(2) (L = Si(OMe)(3) functionalized PPh(3)) on silica was synthesized, characterized and sucessfully applied as a catalyst for the Suzuki reaction.

“…All additional absorption bands in the DRIFT spectrum of KIT-6-SH could be clearly assigned to MPTMS. The quantitative solid-state MAS 29 Si-NMR spectrum of SBA-15-SO 3 H clearly shows the presence of a T 3 branch at −67 ppm, [20,21,23,30] and proves covalent anchorage of propyl sulfonic acid chains onto the silica surface. The vibration To prove the covalent linkage of the MPTMS molecules onto the surface of the ordered mesoporous silica materials, a quantitative 29 Si-NMR spectrum of SBA-15-SO 3 H was collected ( Figure 5).…”

“…[43] The elemental analysis data support the DRIFT results regarding a successful functionalization, because the sulfur amount in the KIT-6-SO 3 H and SBA-15-SO 3 H is 4.66 and 3.36%, respectively, and could be attributed to sulfonic acid groups in the silica (complete results of the elemental analysis, see Table S1, Supporting Information). 2018, 2, 1700170 [20,21,23,30] www.advsustainsys.com The sulfur amount in the samples is equal to 1.45 mmol g −1 (KIT-6-SO 3 H) and 1.04 mmol g −1 (SBA-15-SO 3 H), while the sulfur content in postsynthetically grafted samples is only 0.39 mmol g −1 (grafted KIT-6-SO 3 H) and 0.62 mmol g −1 (grafted SBA-15-SO 3 H).…”

“…Homogenous complex (6) was obtained as per the modified procedure described in the literature [34][35][36] with multistep route as shown in Scheme 1. The 1 H NMR spectrum of synthesized complex showed broad signal around 5.17 ppm which is characteristic of amide functional group along with other signal typical of complex 6 (as shown in Scheme 1).…”

“…Chlorotris(triphenylphosphine)cobalt and sodium carbomethoxycyclopentadienide (2) were prepared as per the procedure described in literature [34][35][36] Ester functional group of compound 3, was hydrolysis using ethanolic potassium hydroxide solution to give rise to the corresponding acid (4) [34]. The resultant acid was extracted in ether (3 times, 30 ml) and dried.…”
