“…This capacity, has in addition, been applied to characterizing the colour of soils, in order to achieve objective Munsell type soil classifications [ 9 ]. Smartphone imaging has also been applied in fluorescence measurements in the visible [ 10 , 11 ], particularly in terms of point of care diagnostics [ 12 ], and in the infrared [ 13 ], as well as in flame emission diagnostics [ 14 ], in profiling laser beams [ 15 ] and for characterizing food volumes via an image based segmentation algorithm as a potential aid in diet monitoring [ 16 ].…”

“…109 Recently, Debus et al developed a homemade digital atomic FES platform (Figure 6F) for the determination of Na + content in human urine, which can potentially operate in an on-site mode. 94 Additionally, Lyra et al developed a digital image-based FES (Figure 6G) for serum chemical analysis including Na + and Ca 2+ . Ions in the air-butane flame emits radiation which is exposed in the acquisition of the digital image by the webcam (detector) on the relation of the Red-Green-Blue color pattern.…”

“…The common methods used to analyze cations are eruption voltammetry , fluorescence quenching method , flame atomic absorption spectrometry , spectrophotometry , ion selective electrode method , and ion chromatography . In the trace analysis of alkali metal and alkaline earth metal ions, the results of ion chromatography are not as satisfied as atomic spectroscopy . However, in addition to ion chromatography, other methods for the analysis of several metal ions had many shortcomings such as the complicated preparation and time‐consuming operation steps, poor selectivity, and the disability of analyzing a variety of ions simultaneously.…”
