A Simple Approach to the Synthesis of Hexagonal-Shaped Silver Nanoplates

Abstract: This paper deals with the synthesis of hexagonal-shaped silver nanoplates with diameters ranging from 15 to 20 nm along with a smooth nanobulk of 120 nm. These nanoplates were prepared by a kinetically controlled solution growth method using mild reducing agent dextrose, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPMw40 kDa) as the capping agent and urea as a habit modifier and at a moderate temperature of50°C. The crystal structure of the highly faceted particles consists mostly of (111) surfaces as revealed by both X-ray diffra… Show more

“…Second, using the proper template or directing agents; the seed is nucleated into the relevant one- or two-dimensional NPs [ 44 , 45 ]. PVP is well known as an effective colloidal stabilizer and directing agent in the formation of NPTs [ 46 ]. This paper elucidates the detailed mechanism of rGO–Ag HNPT synthesis as follows.…”

“…The characterization results in the present work are also in agreement with the journals reporting the synthesis of silver nanoplates using chemical methods. [27][28][29][30][31][32] All the three types of plant leaves were super hydrophobic as the reported contact angles for each of the three types of leaf surface was near 160 . 33,34 A certain ratio of some phytochemicals like gallic acid and quercetin present in plant leaves may be responsible for reduction and then stabilization of the nanostructures.…”

“…The synthesis of Ta 3 N 5 nanoplates was reported by Jie Fu and Sara E. Skrabalak, 2016, for the photocatalytic application [106]. A simple technique developed for the production of hexagonal-shaped Ag nanoplates whose diameter was in the range of 15-20 nm with a smooth nanobulk of 120 nm [107]. The silver nanoplates were prepared by a kinetically controlled solution growth method under the following conditions: polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as a capping agent, dextrose as a reducing agent, and urea as a habit modifier at 50 • C and the crystalline structure of silver nanoplates analyzed by the XRD and TEM.…”
