Abstract: Clinicians whose practice includes elderly patients need a short, reliable instrument to detect the presence of intellectual impairment and to determine the degree. “…In the derivation of the score a Mini Mental Test Score of ≤6 out of 10 was defined as cognitive impairment. Because the Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire (SPMSQ) was established at our institution we choose to adjust the score and use a SPMSQ of ≤6 out of 10 as the definition of cognitive impairment 27.
