Assessment at preschool age plays a crucial role in the process of learning especially for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), whom encounter communication difficulties as exchanging thoughts or information by speech, writing or nonverbal expression. Therefore, a welldesigned assessment method is necessary in order to guide learning and serve as a powerful tool to reinforce children's motivation to learn. Information about what a child with ASD knows, understands and is able to do is used by tutors to adjust their teaching strategies. All assessment methods have different purposes before, during or after instruction. Besides, formative assessment is the most recommended type that helps improving children's learning and it takes place during the learning process. Also, serious games provide a context for assessing a broader range of skills and constructs compared to traditional assessment approaches. In this article, we propose a new technique for evaluating the degree of concept's assimilation of children with ASD through serious games. It allows identifying concepts that children are struggling to understand and skills they are having difficulty acquiring.

Introducción: este artículo es resultado del proyecto de investigación del semillero de desarrollo de software del Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano acerca del “estado del arte de los juegos serios sobre plataforma móvil Android para el aprendizaje del modelado de software”, desarrollado entre el 2015 y el 2017. El objetivo de la investigación fue buscar juegos serios en Android sobre el aprendizaje del modelado de software. Metodología: se realizó una búsqueda en bases de datos digitales como Scopus, ebsco, Elsevier, ieee Xplore y Digital Library, entre otras. La búsqueda se enfocó en el desarrollo de juegos serios en Android para el aprendizaje del modelado de software. Resultados: se encontraron 52 artículos que cumplían con el lineamiento de la investigación, mas no con su objetivo. Además, se identificaron grandes beneficios al usar dispositivos móviles como una herramienta en la educación. Conclusión: se encontró que el juego serio es una herramienta muy importante en el proceso de aprendizaje, pero como su uso no es masivo o, en el momento, no se implementa en todos los campos y áreas de estudio, se debe tener la ayuda y el compromiso del docente con el fin de realizar el acompañamiento a medida que los estudiantes se adaptan al uso de los mismos.

Autism, often known as "autism spectrum disorders (ASD)," is one of the most common developmental disabilities that affect how people learn, behave, communicate, and interact with others. Two crucial everyday tasks that people with ASD typically struggle with are managing finances and recognizing emotions. As the online gaming sector grows and develops, the question of why this type of media can't be used as a useful educational tool for those with ASD arises. This paper discusses this issue via a novel virtual agent-based multiplayer online serious game referred to as "EMOCASH," which aims to improve these important tasks for Egyptian children with ASD and achieve transfer of acquired knowledge to real-world situations via a 3D virtual shop scenario that was designed using the Autism ASPECTSS TM Design Index. EMOCASH served as an instrument for investigating the following research question: What role does technology play in the education of those with ASD? Numerous sub-questions that were related to the primary question were also addressed. A variety of usability metrics were used to assess effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction aspects.
