A Right Retroperitoneal Approach for Repair of an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in a Patient with a Left-Sided Inferior Vena Cava

Abstract: Anomalies of the inferior vena cava present a challenge to the performance of infrarenal aortic surgery. In the past, most of these variations were first discovered at surgery while the aorta was being exposed through traditional approaches. Preoperative testing allows the discovery and planning of a case-specific directed approach. Herein is reported a case of a right retroperitoneal exposure for repair of a left-sided inferior vena cava.
