Exploratory Factor Analysis for Technostress Among Primary School Teachers

The aim of this study was to explore and develop instruments for measuring technostress among primary school teachers in Malaysia. The researchers adapted 28 items from previous study and modified the statement to suit current study. Then the items statement was translated into Malay language to suit the local setting. The instruments underwent expert verification for content validity, face validity and criterion validity. The study amended the item statement accordingly based experts’ comment. For pilot study, some 106 school-teachers were selected randomly for data collection. The data were explored and validated through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) procedure. The results of the EFA procedure revealed the 28 items fall into five underlying components. The components are renamed as technical oriented, profession oriented, social oriented, personal oriented and teaching-learning process oriented. The items under these five components explained 71.1% of the total variance. The internal reliability of the technostress construct was 0.95. In addition to adding to the current body of knowledge, the findings provide a reliable source of information for researchers and professional practitioners interested in future research in technostress for educators, particularly primary school teachers.

This study aims to assess the technostress as mediators in the relationship between virtual leadership and teacher's work wellbeing among primary school teachers in Sabah. This quantitative study involved 427 respondents among primary school teachers in Sabah. Analysis using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) in IBM-SPSS-AMOS 24.0 software. This study found that technostress is a mediator in the relationship between virtual leadership and teacher's work wellbeing among teachers in Sabah. The findings of the study also found that all the direct and indirect paths are significant. It can be concluded that the type of mediation that occurs in this model is partial mediation. The study's findings can help policymakers improve the national education system by providing a clearer direction.

Financial Well-Being (FWB) of a person leads to a prosperous and happy life. Financial problems such as bankruptcy become an obstacle to the achievement of the desire to achieve FWB. Nevertheless, as per past literature with respect to FWB, financial problems with high indebtedness are among the youth. Therefore, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was employed in this study to test the validity and reliability of instruments that can measure FWB. To establish reliable measurements with regard to the FWB construct, this paper utilised a cross-sectional research methodology. The items were adapted as well as modified to fit the needs of this study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 100 randomly chosen young people from the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG). The study then used Statistical Package for the Social Science (IBM-SPSS) version 22.0 to perform EFA. Initially, a total of 19 items were created to measure the FWB construct. Nonetheless, after completing the EFA technique, this research discovered that all 19 items with factor loadings more than the threshold of .60 were kept and declared fit for measuring the FWB construct. This investigation evaluated the parameters used to calculate FWB. As a result, this instrument is helpful to Malaysian universities or institutions responsible for training teachers by testing their FWB before graduation. This study presents that this measuring tool has construct validity and reliability that can be used for research purposes to measure the FWB of youth among trainee teachers.
