A Review on Concept of Nanotechnology in Veterinary Medicine

Abstract: Nanoscience and technology is an exciting and rapidly emerging branch of science and technology which work at the atomic, molecular and macromolecular levels. Nanotechnology deals with manipulation and use various tools and functional materials at nanoscale. The concept of nanotechnology was first time proposed by American Nobel laureate Richard Feynman in 1959. However, the basic idea of definition and popularization was explored much more in 1980s. Nanotechnology has opened up new panoramas for applications … Show more

“…The first evidence of a link between human life and the nanoscale is probably can be found in Ayurveda, which is a 5000-year-old Indian system of medicine. Even before the term nanotechnology was invented, Ayurveda had some understanding of nanomedicine manufacturing and their effects (Prasad and Elumalai 2011 ; Prasad et al 2021 ). The creation of metallic nanoparticles (NPs) is well documented in the ancient Ayurvedic literature, Ras-Ratnakar (Nazeruddin et al 2014 ).…”

“…Then, after extensive research in the elds of nanoscience and technology, nanotechnology deals with the synthesis and application of materials at nanometer scale. In diverse areas like electrochemical application 1 , sensors 2 , photocatalysis 3 , electronics 4 , toxic chemical reduction 5,6 , medical diagnosis 7 , cosmetics 8 , textile 9 , veterinary sciences 10 , and are becoming more attractive as novel uses, from medical diagnostics to gene therapy vehicles etc.…”

“…Physical, chemical, or biological approaches can be used to synthesize NPs. Physical and chemical approaches are restricted by complex processes that need the use of expensive instruments as well as toxic byproducts 9,10 . As a result, nanoscience and technology researchers attempted to establish a cost-effective alternative approach for producing defect-free nanomaterials.…”

“…The earlier attempts were made to synthesize nanomaterials through physical and chemical approaches. However, soon it was realized that these methods are restricted by complex processes that need the use of expensive instruments as well as toxic byproducts are formed 9 , 10 . Also, the nanomaterials produced through physical route of synthesis suffered from several defects, exposure of radiation.…”
