This study examines the effects of three interactive voice assistant (VA) features (responsiveness, ubiquitous connectivity, and personalization) on consumer happiness. An online survey was administered to 316 VA consumers, and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that VA responsiveness, ubiquitous connectivity, and personalization have significant effects on consumer happiness. This study also provides evidence that consumer happiness is influenced by VA features through the mediating roles of autonomy and timeliness. Notably, perceived privacy risk has a dual effect, negatively affecting happiness but positively moderating the relationship between autonomy and happiness, suggesting a complex interplay between benefits and concerns in user interactions with VAs. This study highlights the need for VA businesses to consider both the enhancing and mitigating factors of technology for user experiences. Furthermore, our findings have significant implications for VA businesses and executives, suggesting that improved interactions through these VA features can better serve consumers and enhance their experiences.

Introduction: Over the past few decades, there has been an increasing focus on Smart Building Projects (SBP) and the technologies associated with them. Numerous studies have been conducted globally to define smart building technologies (SBT), identify challenges, and explore areas for improvement. This study aims to examine the concept and terminology of SBT and the expertise and experience of participants in SBP in the Arab Gulf countries, specifically Saudi Arabia. The study also investigates the challenges faced by SBT throughout its life cycle.Methods: To identify and assess the challenges affecting the adoption of smart building technologies. This approach included a literature review, pilot-testing, and a questionnaire survey. The survey targeted a sample of 90 architects/engineers, managers, and contractors.Results: A total of 55 challenges were identified and categorized into four groups, corresponding to the key phases of the project life cycle. These phases include the programming and feasibility analysis phase, design phase, installation and commissioning phase, and operation and maintenance phase. The findings of this research expand the body of knowledge by providing architects/engineers, managers, and contractors in the architecture, engineering, construction, and facility management (AEC/FM) industry with insights into the influential challenges related to the adoption of SBT. In conclusion, this study sheds light on the concept and terminology of smart building technologies and explores the challenges faced by SBT during its life cycle. By identifying and categorizing these challenges, the study provides valuable information to AEC/FM practitioners, enabling them to overcome obstacles and improve the adoption of SBT.

Under the development of an increasingly modern era, intelligent buildings and infrastructure need to be built and operated in line with the progress of the future city. The shopping center building is a building that became one of the hallmarks of the city. Therefore the application must be prominent in the surrounding building. The concept is the basis for taking the use of contemporary concepts. The scope of this research is on the design of Shopping Center buildings that follow modern architectural trends and the interaction of trends on public needs in the future. The purpose of this study is to design a shopping center facility that combines the concept of contemporary architecture with the idea of intelligent building as a supporting element so that the building can adapt to the times in the digitalization era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by applying seven principles of contemporary architecture and the concept of intelligent building in designing supporting facilities. The result of this research is a design of a shopping center building in Kota Baru Parahyangan Bandung by applying a combination of contemporary architectural concepts and intelligent building concepts that pay attention to the orientation and aspects of the surrounding environment. The combination of this concept not only cares for its completeness but also accommodates a lifestyle so that this shopping center can attract visitors with its technological innovations and the visual appearance of elegant contemporary architecture.
