A Review Disaster Mitigation of Jakarta Land Subsidence Areas

Abstract: The Jakarta Capital Special Region of Jakarta is an area in the Java Island that has the highest level of vulnerability to land subsidence disasters. Land subsidence is caused by several factors such as excessive use of groundwater and natural compression of soil conditions. This study used a review analysis method based on a literature study on mitigation of land subsidence disasters in Jakarta city. The mitigation planning of land subsidence disasters in Jakarta will refer to government regulations on disast… Show more

“…The case of central Thailand, as studied by Intui et al (2022), highlights the significant impact of excess groundwater withdrawal on land subsidence in the Chao Phraya river basin. Similarly, Jakarta, as studied by Putri et al (2021), and Beijing, as studied by Zhu et al (2015) and Zhang et al (2014), also experienced severe land subsidence due to excessive groundwater usage. Research conducted in Kolkata by Banerjee et al (2020) focused on land subsidence caused by the drain of aquifer pore water during the construction of a railway tunnel.…”

“…Tekanan penduduk mendorong terjadinya proses interaksi antara parameter kependudukan, parameter pembangunan dan parameter lingkungan hidup (Arbain, 2918). Terjadi disparitas antara laju pertumbuhan penduduk dan menurunnya kualitas sumber daya alam, mendorong lahirnya degradasi lingkungan dan bencana alam (Putri et al, 2021).…”

“…Thus, massive groundwater extraction was conducted to meet increased water demands. This has caused land subsidence that has occurred for decades in this area [6][7][8]. A study by [9] shows that observed subsidence rates during the 1982-2010 period were about 1-15 cm/year and can be up to 20-28 cm/year at certain locations.…”
