A Review and Analysis of Trends Related to Demand Response

Abstract: This paper provides a review and analysis of trends related to demand response (DR). The authors have considered six different topics for the analysis of DR trends: Users, Network Services, Markets, Complementary Programs and Distributed Energy Resources (DER). A brief summary of the consulted articles is included and the behavior of the different DR trend-related topics is shown up to the year 2017 and their projections for 2020. As a result, the characterization of the main DR topics is obtained as well as i… Show more

“…The results of the research by Kemp, Loorbach and Rotmans (2007) [96] confirmed the need for radical changes in functional systems and in government policy, but also in current governance systems (social orientation), natures and patterns of interaction in collective issues). However, on the basis of previous works [43,[97][98][99], it should be concluded that although a full-fledged energy transformation is cost-intensive, it becomes economically and technically feasible. Currently, most of the necessary technologies are fully available and their costs have significantly decreased.…”

“…An overview of Demand Response (DR) programs is provided in [22], [84], [85]. Traditionally, electric utilities have focused on making power generation, transmission, and distribution more efficient.…”

“…Such algorithms were proposed before, in papers such as [9,16,17]. However, in these existing approaches the operation state of the network is assessed using load flow computations, which are time-costly, especially for networks with larger sizes [26][27][28], and they are limited to proposing two objective functions.…”
