Universities increasingly play an important role in entrepreneurship, which has contributed to gender equality in the business world. The aim of this study is to establish a causal model of entrepreneurial intentions and explore it by gender, based on the dimensions of the Theory of Planned Behavior, and how these are mediated by the individuals’ resilience and psychological well-being. The previous work experience was considered as one of the control variables, in order to analyze whether this influence the entrepreneurial intention. With a convenience sample of 644 Portuguese students, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used. For a better understanding, multivariate analyses were performed and each one was individually reported, and for appropriate comparisons by gender, the t-student test was used. The comparison of means, between genders, showed that there are differences only between perceived behavioral control, subjective norm, and entrepreneurial intention, with women scoring the highest values, and psychological well-being, with men scoring the higher. A serial mediation path was performed, and psychological resilience was found to mediate a significant effect between perceived behavioral control and intention in females, but not in males. It also mediates a significant effect between attitude and intention in females, but not in males. These results show that attitude is a determining factor for females to become entrepreneurs. Finally, after discussing the results, theoretical and practical contributions are analyzed, with regard to the field of entrepreneurship in Portugal, and alternatives are pointed out for a more entrepreneurial future, reinforcing the role of higher education institutions.

O artigo tem como objetivo compreender os sentidos subjetivos relacionados às dimensões da ação empreendedora. A metodologia seguiu os parâmetros da Epistemologia Qualitativa de Gonzáles Rey em que é utilizado um conjunto de procedimentos específicos desenhados especialmente para desvendar os indicadores de sentido que, por sua vez, formam a configuração subjetiva. Como técnica de coleta de dados, utilizou-se a história de vida com quatro empreendedoras de micro e pequenas empresas do setor têxtil. As interpretações evidenciam sentidos subjetivos, influenciados pela história de vida, relevantes em cada uma das participantes perante o sonho de ter o próprio, associados, entre outros, à visão ideológica, ao núcleo familiar, à autoestima, à independência, à necessidade financeira, à família e a trabalhar com o que gosta. Os sentidos subjetivos são influenciados por questões individuais conscientes e inconscientes, como também por relações e imposições coletivas, advindas do meio social onde se desenvolvem os indivíduos.

The objective of this research was to diagnose bullying based on the perception of the occurrence of the phenomenon by employees of public and private banking institutions in the city of João Pessoa, state of Paraíba, Brazil. It is a descriptive research and a case study with a quantitative approach applied to a simple random sample of 156 bank clerks, through a sociodemographic questionnaire and a perception scale of mobbing at work, validated by Martins and Ferraz (2014). Data were analyzed by using the SPSS software and compared by Chi-square tests and variance analysis. There was an equal participation concerning gender, most of them from white ethnicity, married, graduates, and mean age of 39 years. It was found that the phenomenon was perceived infrequently, at least once a month. 34% of bank clerks reported professional harassment and 19.9% reported personal harassment. Such results prompted reflection on whether the phenomenon was overcome, reduced or trivialized among the professional category studied. The results also showed that, although perceived infrequently, harassment behavior is more observed with employees in private banks than in public ones.
