This study aims to determine the effect of a university elective course focusing on gender on students' gender attitudes, critical thinking dispositions, and media literacy skills. The research design was quasi-experimental, and the study was conducted with a pretest/posttest control group. The sample of the study consisted of 74 students who took a course on gender during the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year and 70 students who had similar characteristics but did not receive the course. In the pretest and posttest evaluation conducted in the first week and the last week of the semester, respectively, the Student Information Form, the Gender Roles Attitude Scale (GRAS), the Critical Thinking Dispositions Scale (CTDS), and the Media Literacy Scale (MLS) were administered to the students in both groups. The Course Satisfaction Assessment Form was administered at the end of the term to the students who enrolled for the gender course. The GRAS scores of the experimental group increased at the end of the course (p<0.05). The GRAS total mean scores of both the groups were similar in the pretest, but there was a statistically significant difference between their total mean scores in the posttest (p<0.05). This study recommends more comprehensive and long-term studies on integrating a gender course into the university curriculum, which will help develop students' critical thinking disposition and media literacy skills and raise awareness of gender equality among students.

Saat ini penguatan wawasan kebangsaan masih terpusat di persekolahan melalui pembelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan. Namun sebenarnya penguatan wawasan kebangsaan bagi generasi muda bisa melalui komunitas, salah satunya yaitu komunitas Asian African Reading Club dengan kegiatan utamanya yaitu tadarus buku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali dan menganalisis kegiatan tadarus buku dalam menguatkan wawasan kebangsaan bagi generasi muda. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Pengumpulan data melalui teknik wawancara, observasi, studi dokumentasi dan studi literature. Analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan tadarus buku dapat memperkokoh wawasan kebangsaan bagi generasi muda, hal tersebut dikarenakan buku-buku yang dibaca bertemakan kebangsaan dan adanya kekuatan dari narasumber dalam mendiskusikan terkait dengan topik yang sudah dibaca oleh peserta tadarus buku.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Strengthening the insight into the national generation of the young generation through reading book activities (Tadarus)At present, the strengthening of nationalism is still centered in schooling through the learning of Citizenship Education. But actually strengthening the national insight for the younger generation can be done through the community, one of which is the Asian African Reading Club community with its main activity is book tadarus. This study aims to explore and analyze reading book activities (Tadarus) in strengthening national insight for the youth. The approach used in this study is qualitative with a case study method. Data collection through interviews, observation, documentation studies, and literature studies. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. The findings of this study indicate that reading book activities (Tadarus) can strengthen national insight for the youth because books are read with the theme of nationality and the power of the speakers in discussing related topics that have been read by participants.

TBM is more accurately called a reading facility in the middle of the community (community-based library) and is managed simply, and independently by the community concerned. This action research aims to (1) describe the management pattern of Community Reading Gardens as part of Omah Passionaon empowerment programs; (2) Explain the optimization of TBM management in its efforts to improve reading culture. Action research with a focus on optimizing TBM management is carried out using a diagnosis, planning, implementing action and evaluation model with Omah Passinaon managers as research subjects. Data or information is collected by interviewing techniques such as FGDs, observations on aspects of program management, activities to obtain a comprehensive picture of the potential, problems, needs for improvement and forms of action to optimize TBM management. The results of this study indicate that (1) TBM management emphasizes the competence of capable and skilled managers in building public awareness of the importance of reading culture, as well as the realization of TBM that has community appeal as a source of information in Bejiharjo tourism area. (2) Actions for optimizing TBM management in research include (a) Raising public awareness of reading fondness at Omah Passionaon, (b) partnerships with academics, universities, and private parties, (c) mentoring for pioneering TBMs that attract public interest in reading, (d) evaluation. TBM management can be effective must have partnerships from private or government institutions, besides that the manager also has good competence. The benefit of this research is to provide awareness to the community to read and motivation for TBM managers to seek partnerships with private and government institutions.
