Audio DataA new adaptive algorithm for lossless compression of digital audio is presented. The algorithm is derived from ideas from both dictionary coding and source-modeling. An adaptive Lempel-Ziv style k e d dictionary coder is used to build a source model that fuels an arithmetic coder. As a result, variable length strings drawn from the source alphabet are mapped onto variable length strings that are on average shorter. We show that this algorithm outperforms arithmetic coding or Lempel-Ziv cod… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
