To make yam (Dioscorea spp) more useful as low-cost, nutritive weaning food, it has been developed a scheme for processing it into infant flours with a long shelf-life. An attempt was allow to highlight how manufacturing process and the incorporation of soybean (Glycine max), baobab pulp (Andasonia digitata), locust pulp or seeds (Parkia biglobosa) and Cerathoteca sesamoides leaves, modifies nutritive value of formulated infant foods prepared from fermented yam. Nutrient bioavailabilities of the formulations thus prepared were evaluated. In addition, antinutrient content in infant flours has been investigated. The results obtained show that, there is improvement in the nutrient quality of the formulated complementary foods containing malted millet, MCS and MNB. In general infant flours formulated retained an acceptable level on antinutrients content.

Diğer çalış-mada ise 1.5 g IV MS ve ardından dört doz nebül terbutalin ile birlikte nebül MS alan grupta, 180. dakikada VAS ile ölçülen dispne skoru değişikliğinin, plasebo infüzyonu sonrasında dört doz nebül terbutalin ile birlikte nebül IB alan grupla kıyaslanabilir düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir (10 (36). ÖZET [-%23.8 (13.6)], plasebo grubuna [-%9.4 (12.9)] kıyasla anlamlı üstünlük saptandı (p= 0.002). Birinci günde MS grubunda plasebo grubuna kıyasla 10. dakika [4.7 (7.5) ve -3.5 (6.0) Magnezyum, kalsiyum aracılıklı bronş düz kası kasıl-masını, kolinerjik sinir uçlarından asetilkolin ve mast hücrelerinden histamin salınımını engelleme gibi farklı mekanizmalarla bronkodilatör etki gösterebilen bir katyondur (3,4). Magnezyumun solunum kas fonksiyonları üzerine faydalı etkileri olduğu da saptanmıştır (5). Bugün için uluslararası klavuzlarda intravenöz (IV) yolla uygulanan magnezyum sülfat (MS)'ın standart medikal tedaviye yanıt alınamayan ağır astım ataklarında ek tedavi yöntemi olarak kullanılabileceği belirtilmektedir (6). KOAH alevlenmelerinde kullanımıy-sa henüz tavsiye edilmemektedir (1). KOAH alevlenmelerinde MS'nin etkinliğini inceleyen farklı metodolojilerin kullanıldığı az sayıda klinik çalışmada çeliş-kili sonuçlar elde edildiği görülmektedir (Tablo 1).Nebül MS, ucuz ve kolay uygulanabilir olması, yan etkilerinin azlığı nedeniyle KOAH alevlenmelerinde ümit verici yeni bir tedavi yöntemi olabilir. Bu çalış-mayı hastanede tedavisi gereken KOAH alevlenmelerinde standart medikal tedaviye ek olarak nebül yoluyla uygulanan MS'nin etkinliğini incelemeye yönelik olarak planladık. RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: Tem sido mostrado que o sulfato de magnésio apresenta benefícios em adultos e crianças asmáticos, com fraca resposta aos agentes b-agonistas e corticóides sistêmicos no departamento de emergência. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma revisão não sistemática acerca do tratamento da asma aguda com sulfato de magnésio por via venosa e nebulização na emergência.
