A QSBR development procedure for aromatic xenobiotic degradation by unacclimated bacteria

Abstract: The relationship between chemical structure and the comparative rate of biodegradation (defined here as the biodegradation index) by unacclimated activated sludge has been studied. The findings of one model illustrate that the relationship between structure and biodegradability for a homologous series of aromatic compounds may be easily developed using techniques drawn from medical and pharmaco logical sciences, in this case, Hammett's constants. This is true when the biodegradation pathway is known. However, … Show more

“…Okey and Stensel developed QSBR procedure for aromatic xenobiotic degradation by unacclimated bacteria and acclimation was observed to be the function of many uncontrollable factors which includes the tendency of a organic to be toxic, its concentration, temperature, moisture and presence of other substrates 82 . The multilayer perceptron (MLP) which is the application of the principal neural network architecture, have been developed for obtaining sufficient quantitative structurebinding relationships for a dataset of 17 barbiturates as guests complexing to α-and β-cyclodextrins 83 and the results compared to that of earlier study that investigated the same problem using multiple regression analysis 84 .…”
