A Proxy Architecture to Enhance the Performance of WAP 2.0 by Data Compression

Abstract:

This paper presents a novel proxy architecture for wireless application protocol (WAP) 2.0 employing an advanced data compression scheme. Though optional in WAP 2.0 , a proxy can isolate the wireless from the wired domain to prevent error propagations and to eliminate wireless session delays (WSD) by enabling long-lived connections between the proxy and wireless terminals. The proposed data … Show more

“…In particular, ROHC incorporates elements from ROCCO and Adaptive Header Compression (ACE) [18], which may be viewed as preliminary forms of ROHC. The ROHC impact on packet loss and delay has been studied in [19][20][21][22][23][24].…”

“…Hence, the second method, which is agent-based framework, is proposed, in which mobile devices exchange data and services with the Internet via Mobile 2.0 Agent. Pioneering works [3][4][5][6][7] propose the agent with different architectures or functions. In the paper, we propose an agent-based framework with agent as centralized component in the integrated network.…”
