Violence against women and children are public health issues of pandemic proportions. It is estimated that one in every three women worldwide have experienced physical, emotional or sexual violence. Similarly, each year one of two children are victims of some form of violence, including domestic aggression and bullying. Due to the widespread use of the Internet and social media, women and children are also now vulnerable to other types of violence such as cyber-bullying and online sexual or emotional harassment. To help alleviate these social problem, the use of computer sciences and related technologies has been leveraged in recent years. The Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, ubiquitous and mobile computing, pattern recognition, cloud computing, and similar technologies have been used to formulate solutions to detect and prevent violent acts. In this paper, a systematic review of some of the efforts that can help address the problem of violence against women and children is presented. This paper describes the current state-of-the-art of these contributions and identifies trends, architectures, technologies, and current open challenges. The survey was developed using a literature review of academic documents published from 2010 to 2020. The contributions were categorized in four application domains: online detection, offline detection, safety and education. Additionally, these contributions were further categorized based on the computer science approaches and technologies used: artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and digital serious games.

O avanço da tecnologia proporcionou o surgimento do conceito de Internet das Coisas, que está cada vez mais presente no cotidiano de pessoas, empresas e indústrias. Produtos conectados oferecem uma experiência diferenciada ao usuário, que pode interagir e receber informações e funcionalidades adaptadas para seu consumo e padrão. Este trabalho propõe um sistema de monitoramento por vídeo utilizando Internet das Coisas, com foco no monitoramento de crianças para detecção de movimento. O projeto utiliza uma Raspberry Pi Zero W, uma cãmera e a biblioteca OpenCV para monitorar, processar e enviar o vídeo e suas informações para outros dispositivos conectados na mesma rede WiFi. Além disso, o projeto também visa trazer uma alternativa simples e barata para que pais possam monitorar crianças através de qualquer aparelho conectado.

According to recent surveys child missing, child kidnapping cases are rapidly increasing in India [1]. Child’s safety in school buses and outside school premises is one of main concern for the parents today. The proposed system tries to provide security features to the children using new methodologies that are added to the existing safety system for better protection. The proposed system consists of portable unit, cloud system and android application. The portable unit consists of raspberry pi 2 model B, GPS receiver with antenna and pulse rate sensor. This unit will track the position of the child in the form of latitude longitude and altitude using GPS receiver and sense the pulse rate values using heart beat sensor. These data are sending to raspberry pi module which is then injected into elasticsearch with the help of internet connectivity. In cloud system elastic search which is served by amazon cloud service provides a URL which extracts the indexed values from the data injected by raspberry pi device. The android application in a user interface that shows the location of the child in map, path in which the child travelled and the speed in which child moves. The pulse rate of the child is also monitored in application real-time. The URL produced by the elasticsearch is used to retrieve values to the application.
