A precision measurement of the inclusive ep scattering cross section at HERA

Abstract: A measurement of the inclusive deep inelastic neutral current e + p scattering cross section is reported in the region of four-momentum transfer squared, 12 GeV 2 ≤ Q 2 ≤ 150 GeV 2 , and Bjorken x, 2 × 10 −4 ≤ x ≤ 0.1. The results are based on data collected by the H1 Collaboration at the ep collider HERA at positron and proton beam energies of E e = 27.6 GeV and E p = 920 GeV, respectively. The data are combined with previously published data, taken at E p = 820 GeV. The accuracy of the combined measurement i… Show more

“…The polarization effects in the NC process are reliably established at large values of Q 2 . The asymmetries are well described by the Standard Model predictions based on the H1PDF 2009 [3] and HERAPDF1.0 [4] QCD fits to the unpolarized HERA I data. 3 A variation of the lepton beam charge allows the structure function xF 3 to be measured using the combined unpolarized data from HERA I and HERA II.…”

“…A simultaneous fit to jet ATLAS data and the HERA 1 data has been performed with the HERAFITTER package [18][19][20] by using a set of PDF parametrisations similar to what has been used in HERA1.5 set [21].…”
