Abstract. After years of silence we should witness in the rest of this decade and in the next decade the revival of kaon flavour physics. This is not only because of the crucial measurements of the branching ratios for the rare decays K + → π + νν and K L → π 0 νν by NA62 and KOTO that being theoretically clean and very sensitive to new physics (NP) could hint for new phenomena even beyond the reach of the LHC without any significant theoretical uncertainties. Indeed simultaneously the advances in the calculations of perturbative and in particular non-perturbative QCD effects in ε /ε, ε K , ΔM K , K L → μ + μ − and K L → π 0 + − will increase the role of these observables in searching for NP. In fact the hints for NP contributing to ε /ε have been already signalled last year through improved estimates of hadronic matrix elements of QCD and electroweak penguin operators Q 6 and Q 8 by lattice QCD and large N dual QCD approach. This talk summarizes in addition to this new flavour anomaly the present highlights of this field including some results from concrete NP scenarios.

The direct CP asymmetry a dir CP (D 0 → KSKS) involves exchange diagrams which are induced at tree level in the Standard Model. Since the corresponding topological amplitude EKK can be large, D 0 → KSKS is a promising discovery channel for charm CP violation. We estimate the penguin annihilation amplitude with a perturbative calculation and extract the exchange amplitude EKK from a global fit to D branching ratios. Our results are further used to predict the size of mixing-induced CP violation. We obtain |a dir CP (D 0 → KSKS)| ≤ 1.1% (95% C.L.). The same bound applies to the nonuniversal part of the phase between the D −D mixing and decay amplitudes. If future data exceed our predictions, this will point to new physics or an enhancement of the penguin annihilation amplitude by QCD dynamics. We briefly discuss the implications of these possibilities for other CP asymmetries.

We analyze the chargino contributions to the CP violating ratio ǫ ′ /ǫ in the left-right supersymmetric model. We study the possibility that these contributions alone can saturate the experimental value of ǫ ′ /ǫ. We derive conservative bounds on supersymmetric flavor violation parameters in the up squark LL, RR, LR and RL sectors, using the mass insertion approximation. While the LL bounds are found to be consistent with the MSSM values, the LR constraints are new and much stronger.
