A Potential Field Model Avoiding Local Minimum in Pedestrian Simulation

Abstract: For reflecting those behaviors in the simulation that pedestrians choose to wait, scrape or round after being trapped in local minimum, based on the static spatial potential field with big grid, dynamic potential field is obtained after adding in time-consumption potential field and waiting potential field. Time-consumption potential field replaces traditional pedestrian repulsive field and changes with grid space occupancy while waiting potential field has the attribution of attenuation and enhancement togeth… Show more

“…There are two parts of the potential: attractive potential generated by the destination and repulsive potential generated by obstacles. In [35], Liu et al proposed a time-consumption potential field model, which can enhance potential field models where a pedestrian is waiting too long (e.g. being trapped into a local minimum), forcing the pedestrian to keep walking.…”
