A population‐based study of the relationship between endometrial thickness and prevalence of breast mass in postmenopausal women

Abstract: Objectives To determine the relationship between endometrial thickness and the prevalence of breast mass in postmenopausal women. Methods The prevalence of breast mass was investigated in 6759 postmenopausal women (≥60 years) with different endometrial thicknesses who underwent breast and transvaginal ultrasonography from January 2015 to June 2017. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to obtain odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals for breast mass in postmenopausal women with increased endome… Show more

“…The ET of all participants was accurately determined by a 4-8 MHz vaginal transducer (HD11XE; Philips Medical Systems) or a 4-11 MHz transducer (Aplio 500; Canon Medical Systems), and then was routinely evaluated and recorded 33 . As transvaginal sonography, the bladder was emptied at first, patients were examined in a lithotomy position scanned with an intravaginal ultrasound probe.…”

“…Breast mass (BM) was defined as a lesion that occupies a space within the breast and often manifests as breast cyst, intraductal mass, and mixed or solid mass. 11 Final assessment of malignancy risk for breast abnormalities was provided by an experienced ultrasound examiner according to the standard of the American College of Radiology: the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS). 16 Blood flow and morphologic variables were obtained to define each ovarian mass (OM) by sonographers according to the gray-scale and color Doppler ultrasound images.…”

“…10 A breast mass is the major indicator of breast cancer in ultrasound findings and occurs in women. 11 In 2012, the China Official Breast Cancer Screening Program was conducted, and this project chose ultrasound as the initial diagnostic tool. Mammography and biopsy were applied after a diagnosis of highly suggestive malignancy or suspicious lesion.…”
