Structural Elucidation and Antioxidant Activity of a Polysaccharide from Mycelia Fermentation of Hirsutella sinensis Isolated from Ophiocordyceps sinensis

“…The pretreatment of isolated polysaccharide on the cultured rat pheochromocytoma PC1 2 cells showed strong protective effect against hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 )-induced insult [3].The water-soluble crude polysaccharides were obtained and purified from the fruiting bodies of cultured Cordyceps militaris, giving main three polysaccharide fractions termed P 50 -1, P 70 -1, and P 70 -2, structural features of P 70 -1 were investigated. In the in vitro antioxidant assay, P 70 -1 was found to possess hydroxyl radicalscavenging activity with an IC 50 value of 0.548 mg/mL [33].
