A Panel of Five-lncRNA Signature as a Potential Biomarker for Predicting Survival in Gastric and Thoracic Cancers

Abstract: Dysfunctional long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been found to have carcinogenic and/or tumor inhibitory effects in the development and progression of cancer, suggesting their potential as new independent biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. The exploration of the relationship between lncRNAs and the overall survival (OS) of different cancers opens up new prospects for tumor diagnosis and treatment. In this study, we established a five-lncRNA signature and explored its prognostic efficiency in gastr… Show more

“…High-throughput genomic studies provided cutting-edge sights into the molecular mechanisms and identi ed new potential targets of breast cancer [33][34][35][36]. Nevertheless, using a single biomarker for predicting often relatively lower predictive effects, and a risk model for predicting the OS and DRFS of patients [37][38][39][40][41][42][43] and a nomogram were popular which showed superior predictive effects as a better alternative [18, [44][45][46]. Meanwhile E2F related genes had been selected to build a model for predict the DRFS of breast cancer patients [47].…”

“…Lauren’s classification is the most useful and widely applicable classification for pathology, generally dividing the disease into intestinal-, diffuse-, and mixed-subtype [ 4 ]. Although a few of molecular biomarkers have been used for predicting prognosis to date [ 5 , 6 ], few of clinical and prognostic biomarkers are available in gastric cancer. Therefore, searching biomarkers for prognosis prediction in gastric cancer patients could be helpful in deciding more effective clinical regimen.…”

“…As lncRNAs and GTF2I are both important in TETs, it is critical to determine whether lncRNAs associated with GTF2I mutations in TETs. Previous studies have established lncRNA signatures based on lncRNA expression levels to predict the prognosis of patients with TETs [ 20 , 21 ]. However, the expression level of lncRNA depends on the detection platform; therefore, clinical utilization of these lncRNA signatures is limited by the accuracy of the detected lncRNA level.…”
