This paper models and solves the scheduling problem of cable manufacturing industries that minimizes the total production cost, including processing, setup, and storing costs. Two hybrid meta-heuristics, which combine simulated annealing and variable neighbourhood search algorithms with tabu search algorithm, are proposed. Applying some case-based theorems and rules, a special initial solution with optimal setup cost is obtained for the algorithms. The computational experiments, including parameter tuning and final experiments over the benchmarks obtained from a real cable manufacturing factory, show superiority of the combination of tabu search and simulated annealing comparing to the other proposed hybrid and classical meta-heuristics.

Supply chain planning is an integrated process in which a group of several organizations, such as suppliers, producers, distributors and retailers, work together. It comprises procurement, production, distribution and demand planning topics. These topics require taking strategical, tactical and operational decisions. This research aims to reveal which supply chain topics, which decision levels, and which optimization methods are mostly studied in supply chain planning. This paper presents a total of 77 reviewed works published between 1993 and 2016 about supply chain planning. The reviewed works are categorized according to following elements: decision levels, supply chain optimization topics, objectives, optimization models.

Oil depots along products pipelines are important components of the pipeline transportation system and down-stream markets. The operating costs of oil depots account for a large proportion of the total system's operating costs. Meanwhile, oil depots and pipelines form an entire system, and each operation in a single oil depot may have influence on others. It is a tough job to make a scheduling plan when considering the factors of delivering contaminated oil and batches migration. So far, studies simultaneously considering operating constraints and contaminated oil issues are rare. Aiming at making a scheduling plan with the lowest operating costs, the paper establishes a mixed-integer linear programming model, considering a sequence of operations, such as delivery, export, blending, fractionating and exchanging operations, and batch property differences of the same oil as well as influence of batch migration on contaminated volume. Moreover, the paper verifies the linear relationship between oil concentration and blending capability by mathematical deduction. Finally, the model is successfully applied to one of the product pipelines in China and proved to be practical.
