Despite its vital importance for life and societal development, energy is a source of conflict and war in many places worldwide. It is also a source of pollution and harmful natural phenomena that affect human life and the environment. These factors have led scientists to consider alternative clean, cheap, and eco-friendly renewable energies. Examples include briquettes consisting of compressed agricultural waste, such as pruning residuals. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate the characteristics of briquettes derived from the pruning residuals of Ficus nitida trees. The results indicate that moisture content was the main factor affecting the physical properties of the produced briquettes. The ideal moisture content for producing high-quality briquettes was 8%. With this moisture content, the briquette durability was 96.9%, the bulk density was approximately 0.18 g·cm3, the compressive strength was 18.5 MPa, and its calorific value was 3250.7 Kcal/kg (17.38 MJ/kg). In conclusion, our research confirms the high quality of briquettes made from the pruning residuals of F. nitida and their promising potential as an energy source.

The current study took Henan Wufeng New Energy Science Technology Co. Ltd as an example to investigate a large‐scale steam heating system with biomass briquette fuel in Henan, China. Drawn on several months of field research, the economic cost and greenhouse gas emissions for peanut shell straw collection, transportation, storage and burning at Henan Wufeng New Energy Science Technology Co. Ltd were analyzed in 2021. Moreover, the economic cost and greenhouse gas emissions were used as evaluation indicators to evaluate the biomass molding fuel supply system systemically. Economic analysis shows that the steam heating system can make a profit of 1.72 × 106 yuan per year, and the input–output ratio (ROI) is 93.87%, which is much higher than the benchmark input–output ratio (30%). The very high ROI indicates that the system is difficult to operate in an economically feasible manner. Greenhouse gas emission analysis demonstrates that at the same heating level, the system can save 4.42 × 107 kg of standard coal and reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases to the environment by 1.25 × 105 tCO2eq, which has significant environmental benefits. Taken together, the government should adopt effective economic policies to promote the efficient use of biomass straw and support biomass straw recycling and heating enterprises. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Semakin meluas meningkatnya kebutuhan bahan bakar cair dan padat,semakin menipisnya sumber energi bahan bakar padat seperti batu bara.salah satunya limbah biomassa yang kurang di optimalkan penggunaannya dan untuk mengurangi pecemaran lingkungan, limbah biomassa dapat dimanfaatkan sebagi briket untuk energi alternatif terbarukan.Briket ialah energi alternatif yang terbuat dari bahan dasar arang.ampas kopi selain mempunyai manfaat untuk pupuk tanah ampas kopi bisa di gunakan sebagai energi terbarukan.Limbah seperti serbuk kayu yang pemanfaatannya kurang di maksimalkan juga dapat di jadikan bahan dasar briket. Dari ke dua limbah tersebut dibuat untuk briket, briket tersebut di campurkan dengan menambahkan perekat tepung botani dan minyak jarak. Pada analisis ini dengan variasi campuran briket ampas kopi: serbuk kayu 2:0, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 0:2 dilakukan pengujian laju pembakaran, laju nyala api, nilai kalor dan kadar air. Spesimen 3 pada laju pembakaran merupakan spesimen yang paling baik di bandingkan dengan spesimen yang lain karena temperature yang stabil dan waktu pembakaran yang cukup lama dengan komposisi 15 gram ampas kopi,15 gram serbuk kayu,7,5 gram perekat tepung botani dan 30 gram campuran minyak jarak sehingga di peroleh laju pembakran sebesar 0,131 gr/menit dan waktu lama pembakran 37.56 menit diperoleh temperature per-5 menit 530°C, 520°C, 580°C, 440°C, 520°C, 520°C
