A Novel Study on Natural Robotic Rehabilitation Exergames Using the Unaffected Arm of Stroke Patients

Abstract: We design and implement a low-cost rehabilitation glove to meet the needs of those patients who have paralysis in their affected hand. The novelty of this glove is that it is to be worn on the unaffected hand which acts as a natural robotic arm during the rehabilitation session. The glove is equipped with FSR sensors that measure the forces exerted by the affected hand on the unaffected hand. A virtual reality rehabilitation game is developed using Microsoft Kinect to facilitate the exercises and motivate the … Show more

“…Система позволяет физиотерапевтам разрабатывать индивидуальные программы физических упражнений для пациентов. Описана система, помогающая пациентам с инсультом восстановить функции парализованной руки [25]. В системе используются специальная перчатка с 8 датчиками, Microsoft Kinect в качестве датчика 3D-захвата и отслеживания движения руки и виртуальная среда с мультимодальной (визуальной и звуковой) обратной связью.…”

“…Wireless sensor network(WSN) attained a world wide attention and is one of most promising research areas because of its diverse applications and a number of advantages over conventional networks such as ease of deployment, low cost, scalability, flexibility, reliability, etc. Application areas of WSN are military, security, agriculture [2], industrial, medical [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], environmental monitoring and home and office automation etc [8]. Some other examples of WSN applications are real time monitoring of wheel condition of train [9], exploration of underwater environment [10], monitoring of concentration of volatile organic compound at risky sites [11] and fire monitoring [12] etc.…”
