A Novel Generation Method of High Quality Video Image for High Resolution Airborne ViSAR

Abstract: Video synthetic aperture radar (ViSAR) can provide long-time surveillance of a region of interest (ROI), which is one of the hotspot directions in the SAR field. In order to better display ViSAR, a high resolution and high frame rate are needed. Azimuth integration angle and sub-aperture overlapping ratio, which determine the image resolution and frame rate, respectively, are analyzed in depth in this paper. For SAR imaging algorithm, polar format algorithm (PFA) is applied, which not only has high efficiency … Show more

“…(1) Efficient processing of the echo signals to quickly obtain a single frame video SAR image. (2) The consistency between different frame images should be ensured; that is, the position of stationary ground targets in the image should be at the same pixel point p. This requires the final image to be located in a unified ground output coordinate system (GOCS), where the X-Y-Z axis of the Cartesian coordinate system always points towards the range, azimuth, and altitude directions, respectively.…”

“…Video synthetic aperture radar (SAR) combines SAR with high frame rate video display technology, which allows for continuous observation of targets at night and in harsh conditions such as rain, fog, sand, and dust [1,2]. As an inheritance and expansion of traditional SAR, video SAR can display information on ground motion targets in all directions [3,4].…”

“…The MD algorithm is a motion error compensation algorithm based on sub-aperture processing. Compared to such algorithms, full-aperture processing can avoid the grating lobe and image-stitching problems caused by sub-aperture processing [15]. In 2023, Chen et al proposed a parametric motion error compensation algorithm based on full-aperture processing to address the severe motion error challenges encountered in state-of-the-art airborne microwave photonic SAR systems, demonstrating superior quantitative performance compared to the alternative full-aperture motion error compensation methods [16].…”

“…Therefore, an efficient and high-fidelity video SAR data simulation algorithm is required to meet the needs of different application scenarios. Processing and analyzing simulated data can help researchers gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics and patterns of video SAR data, providing a foundation and guidance for algorithm and technology research [3][4][5][6][7].…”
