A Novel Compact Feeding Network for Array Antenna

Abstract: Abstract-A novel feeding network is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The proposed system with combination of a Wilkinson power divider and two branch-Line couplers is established. The output signals of the system have the same amplitude and 90 • phase difference with each other. The size reduction technique is applied to minimize the physical size of the proposed network. In this technique, the ground of the structure is defected, and distributed capacitors and inductors are added to empty s… Show more

“…Different structures of the feeding network are proposed in the literature. The system designed in [5] is a combination of Wilkinson power dividers and two branch-line couplers in the 2.5 GHz band. Another design is proposed in [6], consists of three T-junction in phase power dividers for 30 GHz frequency band.…”

“…Power divider (PD) is a fundamental passive circuit usually used as a feeding network for antennas array [2][3][4][5][6][7]. It can be not only employed with antenna arrays but also used in power amplifiers [8][9][10][11] and mixers [12][13][14].…”

“…The ability of sequential rotation technique to improve the axial ratio (AR) characteristic, is one of the main reasons of using this method. There are different feeding networks with more complex structures . By comparing the sequential rotation techniques, with other feeding network techniques such as butler matrices or CORPS, the simplicity of this array antenna can be felt more.…”
