A novel cation induced polymeric chain in Na8[{Cu(gly)2}2]{H2(H2W12O42)}] · 24H2O: hydrothermal synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and X-ray structure analysis

Abstract: A novel bis(glycinato)copper(II)paradodecatungstate Na 8 [{Cu(gly) 2 } 2 ]-{H 2 (H 2 W 12 O 42 )}] Á 24H 2 O (1) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The crystal structure of 1 reveals an infinite one-dimensional chain along the [100] direction and is built from paradodecatungstate (H 2 W 12 O 42 ) 10-clusters joined through [Cu(gly) 2 ] moieties. Parallel chains are interlinked by NaO 6 octahedra to generate a two-dimensional network.

“…21 The complex anion (Fig. 4a) is centrosymmetric with the structure known from the reported examples, [19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] comprising twelve edge-sharing WO 6 octahedra. The W-O (terminal) bond lengths vary from 1.725(6) to 1.781(6) Å, the W-O (bridging) bond lengths are from 1.814(6) to 2.203 (6) and the W-O(m 3 ) bond lengths are in 1.919(6)-2.223(6) Å range.…”

“…Analogous polyoxometalate anions have been reported in the form of salts, as well as sodium and copper(II) coordination polymers. [19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] One reported example of a Mn 2+ coordination polymer is the (Himi) 6…”

“…Indeed, thanks to the presence of carboxyl and amino groups, these molecules can act not only as hydrogen-bonding acceptors or hydrogen-bonding donors, but also as bidentate or tridentate ligands which can coordinate to various metals [18,19]. In fact, several polymolybdates modified with amino acids and metalamino acid complexes have been reported [20][21][22][23][24][25]; in return, amino acid modified polyoxotungstates remain largely unexplored [26][27][28]. Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of an extended structure based on paradodecatungstate clusters and sodium-aminoacetic acid complexes.…”
