“…As our 2D NMR data were also in agreement with the published structure of piperazimycin A (1a) [17], we state that the previously unidentified antibiotic sohbumycin is identical with piperazimycin A (1a), a cyclodepsipeptide containing the rare acids S-methylserine, g-hydroxypiperazic acid, g-chloropiperazic acid, 2-amino-8-methyl-4,6-nonadienoic acid and hydroxyacetic acid.…”

“…Two further highly cytotoxic antibiotics were identified as chlorinecontaining peptides by their formulas C 31 H 47 N 8 O 10 Cl and C 31 H 47 N 8 O 9 Cl (by HRESI-MS) and the positive chlorine/tolidine reaction for amide bonds. According to their NMR data, they were found to be identical with the previously reported but incompletely defined sohbumycin [17] and the recently published antibiotics piperazimycin A (1a) and B (1b) [18]. As part of our ongoing investigation of the MS/MS fragmentation of cyclopeptides and cyclodepsipeptides [19], we report here their massspectrometric fragmentation pattern.…”

“…At the time when this compound was isolated, a substructure search in all databases delivered no hits, indicating the novelty of 254. However, it was found that a compound of undetermined structure named sohbumycin [366] had the same mass; the published 1 H NMR diagram was very similar to that of 254.…”

“…The antibiotic showed no inhibitory activity against Gram-negative bacteria, yeast and fungi at the concentration of 500//g/ml. This paper deals with the isolation and structure elucidation of octacyclomycin (1). Physico-chemical properties of octacyclomycin (1) Na salt are listed on observed.…”
