A New Way to Discover the Chemistry Laboratory: The Augmented Reality Laboratory-License

Abstract: Augmented Reality is a good way to enrich and expand not only the environment but also the students' learning. When students come to a chemical laboratory for the first time, it is important to internalize the special rules and regulations. For this reason, we have linked these two components and developed an Augmented Reality Laboratory License. The students should internalize the laboratory and its rules with the help of a rally. The students set off in the laboratory and discover the various symbols and rul… Show more

“…Through this app, students were able to interact with the AR interface to find help and view information in image or video format, and students who used the AR interface with dynamic resources showed enhanced performance compared to those who used analog resources . A different AR-based application was developed by the same authors to help students reach more information about safety symbols used in chemistry laboratories using a nontraditional method to attract students’ attention . A virtual laboratory tool, where the application is used as a prelaboratory exercise to aid in students’ learning of experimental manipulation as well as their understanding of concepts, has also been introduced .…”

“…For this purpose, the so-called "digital pact" was created in Germany, which aims to equip the German schools with the necessary hardware and software [13,14]. Further studies could also show that AR can represent new ways to promote self-regulated learning [15,16,17,18] Apart from this, the extra work for teachers limits itself to a minimum and is therefore of no consequence. Furthermore, the app can be used in any kind of learning setting, such as open learning, teacher instructed learning or experimental settings, as it will support the students to fulfill their tasks.…”

“…Um den vorgenannten Problemen gerecht zu werden, wurde für die Studie eine 3D‐Animation der Teilchenbewegung in den drei unterschiedlichen Aggregatzuständen erstellt. Die Animation selbst wird mithilfe eines Mobile Devices (Smartphone oder Tablet) auf einen 3D‐dimensionalen Trigger „projiziert“ [26]. Hierfür erscheint der „Merge Cube“ geeignet, welcher entweder für ca.…”
