“…The introduction of age standards externaldetector (ED), and annealing models [42] led to the development of AFT geochronology, which was initially a dating method, into a powerful tool for uncovering thermal evolution both in the orogen and in the basin [43][44][45]. AFT parameters, such as single-grain age, and confined-track length with occasional apatite chemical analyses, and other low-medium temperature chronological methods are essential for thermal-evolution modeling of rocks from a shallow crust.…”

“…Irradiation was carried out in the Belgian Reactor 1 (BR1) facility of the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre in Mol. Obtained AFT ages are reported in Table 4 as conventional zeta-ages (Hurford, 1990), calculated using an overall weighted mean zeta of 229.8 ± 4.9 a.cm 2 (personal calibration factor of E. De Pelsmaeker) based on Durango and Fish Canyon Tuff apatite age standards and IRMM 540 dosimeter glasses (De Corte et al, 1998). AFT ages were also calculated as central ages and evaluated by a radial plot to check for potential multiple AFT populations (Galbraith, 1990;Vermeesch, 2009) (Table 4).…”

“…Samples were irradiated in the Lazy Susan (Cd ratio 6.5 for Au and 48 for Co) facility of the Triga Mark II reactor of LENA, University of Pavia (Italy). The neutron fluence was determined using the NRM IRMM-540 standard glass (De Corte et al, 1998). Error of age is propagation of errors of ρ S and ρ I , of error of (determined by the measurement of the track density produced on the surface of a muscovite external detector attached to the standard glass during irradiation), and of the additional error introduced by the point counting technique).…”
