“…Many ingredients in cell culture media are chromophoric and can interfere with the direct detection of amino acids by absorbance. Amino acids, especially leucine, have been separated by chromatography techniques (Inoue et al 2000;Hamase et al 2001;Gioia et al 2005;Gioia et al 2007;Alcaide-Hidalgo et al 2008) and then determined by various methods such as chemiluminescence (Kiba et al 1998), fluorescence (Baker et al 1995;Xiong et al 2003;Oguri et al 2005), NMR (Zweckstetter 2003;Steiner et al 2003), mass spectroscopy (MS) (Aguiara et al 2005), isotopic mass spectros copy (Hasegawa et al 1999;Mccullough et al 1998;Eijk et al 1999), electrospray ion mobility spectroscopy (IMS) (Barnett et al 1999). Other determination techniques have also been used to determine amino acid concentrations, such as microdialysis (Rolinski et al 2001), electrochemical biosensors (Domínguez et al 2001;Domínguez et al 2007), anion exchange-amperometry (Hanko and Rohrer 2001), voltammetric on polymer film electrode (Li 2006) and screen-printed amperometric biosensor (Wcisło 2007).…”
