A new SRF-based power angle control method for UPQC-DG to integrate solar PV into grid

Abstract: Summary In this paper, a new synchronous reference frame theory–based power angle control (PAC) method for unified power quality conditioner with distributed generation (UPQCDG) is proposed for effective grid integration of solar PV. In UPQCDG, shunt active power filter (APF) feeds power from distributed generator to load, apart from supplying reactive power demand, which leads to increase in VA burden, hence its rating. Power angle control method aims at effective utilization of series and shunt APFs through … Show more

“…30 In Renukadevi et al,31 an infinite-level VSI, which acts as a DSTATCOM, has been applied to reduce the THD. A PV-UPQC has been proposed in Patel et al 32 having various advantages like protecting critical loads from grid side disruption, enhancing power quality, and increasing the fault ride-through capacity of the converter during transients.…”

“…The development in the field of sensors and signal processing techniques, more versatile controllers have been developed for active power filters and are used in several applications, whose power rating ranging from a few watts to several Megawatts. [2][3][4][5][6] A new method for filtering harmonics in the industrial dc supply system was proposed by integrating active filtering to the secondary of the transformer supplying the dc load. This method has the advantage of reduced transformer loss, strong harmonic elimination and higher integration of the electric equipment in industrial applications.…”
