We collected Proloschizomu.s frcmckei new species from Cueva del Diablo in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. “…In Protoschizomidae, the first detailed description of the cheliceral setae was published by Cokendolpher and Reddell [ 13 ]. Besides that, some figures of other Protoschizomidae are available in the literature [ 13 , 16 , 28 ], and on the Internet ( Agastoschizomus lucifer ; [ 30 ]). The two schizomid families show clear differences in number and position of the setae; for example, Protoschizomidae have fewer teeth on the fixed finger, serrula with rounded knobs, and setae G5A (the cheliceral brush of Cokendolpher and Reddell [ 13 ]), absent (in general, Protoschizomidae have less setae on the chelicerae than its sister group, the Hubbardiidae ( Fig 2 )).…”

“…The nomenclature of pedipalps, legs and spermathecae follows Reddell and Cokendolpher [ 3 ]; the nomenclature for flagellum setation follows Harvey [ 20 ], modified by Cokendolpher and Reddell [ 13 ], Villarreal, Armas and García [ 18 ] and Moreno-González, Delgado-Santa and Armas [ 27 ]; the nomenclature of cheliceral setae is based on Lawrence [ 8 ]; the chelicerae of Protoschizomidae were analyzed based on figures in the literature [ 13 , 16 , 28 ], and some unpublished SEM images of Agastoschizomus lucifer Rowland, 1971 [ 29 ], accessible in Morphbank [ 30 ]. Tables 1 and 2 summarize which species had specimens analyzed under the microscope and which had details extracted from the literature.…”

“…The family Protoschizomidae Rowland, 1975 is endemic to Mexico and is currently known by 13 species divided into 2 genera, Protoschizomus Rowland, 1975 with 8 species and Agastoschizomus Rowland, 1971 with 5 species (Cokendolpher & Reddell, 1992;Monjaraz-Ruedas, 2013). Agastoschizomus is characterized primarily by the larger body size (7-12.40 mm), http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2016.02.006 1870-3453/All Rights Reserved © 2016 Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Instituto de Biología.…”
