A new quantum-safe multivariate polynomial public key digital signature algorithm

Abstract: We propose a new quantum-safe digital signature algorithm called Multivariate Polynomial Public Key Digital Signature (MPPK/DS). The core of the algorithm is based on the modular arithmetic property that for a given element g, greater than equal to two, in a prime Galois field GF(p) and two multivariate polynomials P and Q, if P is equal to Q modulo p-1, then g to the power of P is equal to g to the power of Q modulo p. MPPK/DS is designed to withstand the key-only, chosen-message, and known-message attacks. M… Show more

“…Another scheme based on the MPPK mechanism, called MPPK digital signature or MPPK/DS, was recently proposed by Kuang, Perepechaenko, and Barbeau 6 . As opposed to MPPK KEM key pair construction over the prime field , MPPK/DS chooses the associated ring to construct its public key in a similar way as in MPPK KEM.…”

“…In this paper, we propose an optimization of the MPPK/DS 6 to further reduce the key pair sizes and signature size, as well as strengthen its security. We also discuss the potential side-channel-resistant implementation of the optimized MPPK signature algorithm.…”
