A new parametric control method for freeform mesh models

Abstract: Parametric modeling technology is difficult to apply to freeform mesh models since there is no efficient way to impose geometric constraints. In this paper, we propose a novel method to control freeform mesh models parametrically. Our approach is to construct a control mesh that surrounds an object model and then impose constraints on it. The control mesh is parametrically controlled and the shape of the object model is modified by using an existing freeform deformation method. This paper is mainly concerned wi… Show more

“…[10][11][12][13][14] Consequently, on-chip realization of such metasurfaces can provide wearable or head-mounted displays (HMDs) for promising applications in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). [15][16][17][18] Moreover, such displays have promising applications in healthcare for bio-imaging, the advertisement industry, data encryption, etc. In the last decade, metasurfaces have garnered considerable attention for targeting versatile functionalities like vortex beam generation, [19][20][21] lenses, 21 novel light structuring, [22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30] and color filters.…”

“…The workflow defined through the parametric model of the proposed methodology generates different design solutions without the need to develop new models [ 96 ]. This approach is of interest when avoiding the interruption of the workflow of the methodology between the mesh result of the topology optimization and the required parametric design for the further optimizations [ 97 , 98 ]. In this way it is possible to introduce variations in the solution obtained by altering the values of a certain variable without the need to redefine the three-dimensional model.…”
