“…This step was followed by incubation with biotinylated secondary antibody, and final visualization was achieved by using the avidin-biotin complex peroxidase kit (Vector Laboratories, Burlingame, CA), freshly prepared 3,3Ј-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride, and hydrogen peroxide according to the protocol provided by the manufacturer. Normal rabbit serum instead of anti-B2R or anti-B2R antibodies was used as a control (9,21).…”

“…Mechanical external stents for SVGs have shown significant reductions of proliferative intimal hyperplasia, foam cells deposition, and other vascular disease markers in pre-clinical testing (10)(11)(12)(13). This protective effect of external stents is attributed to the reduction in SVG wall tension, the improvement of lumen uniformity and the formation of a "neo-adventitia" layer rich with micro vasculature (10)(11)(12)(13)(14).…”

“…13 Apart from mitigating neointimal tissue formation, they protected the vein grafts against compression and deformation. 14 Our own group used metal meshes to demonstrate that to achieve optimal suppression of diffuse IH, 7 the degree of overall constriction needs to aim at a diameter match of vein graft and host artery. 8 Furthermore, by introducing the superelastic shape memory alloy nitinol as a mesh material, persistent longitudinal pleating of braided meshes became possible, thereby allowing the extreme constriction of vein grafts without the occurrence of wall folding.…”
