A New Iridoid Tetraester from Valeriana jatamansi

Abstract: Two new iridoid triesters, valeriotriates A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the roots of Valeriana jatamansi Jones. Their structures were elucidated by HR-ESI-MS and 1D-and 2D-NMR spectroscopy.

“…Three new iridoids, jatairidoids A ( 66 ), B ( 67 ), and C ( 68 ) from the roots of V. jatamansi were also reported (Xu et al, ). Yu et al () isolated a new tetracester known as valeriotetraester ( 69 ) from the roots of this herb. Recently, three new minor valepotriate isomers were isolated and identified as jatamanvalterates Z1 ( 70 ), Z2 ( 71 ), and Z3 ( 72 ) from whole plant of this species (Lin et al, ).…”

“…Likewise, Chen, Yu, Huang, Lv, and Gui (), isolated 11‐methoxyviburtinal ( 121 ), prinsepiol‐4‐ O ‐β‐D‐glucoside ( 122 ), coniferin ( 123 ), and hexacosanic acid ( 124 ) from the roots of V. jatamansi . In addition, a valepotriate known as valeriotetrate A ( 125 ) was also detected and quantified from the roots of this herb (Yu et al, ). Two valepotriates, namely, volvatrate A ( 126 ) (Wang et al, ; Li et al, ) and jatamandoid A ( 127 ) (Xu et al, ) were isolated from the roots of V. jatamansi whereas patriscabrol ( 128 ) from the whole plant of this species (Lin et al, ).…”
