A New Heat Supply System of Cogeneration for the Local Community

Abstract: In order for economically viable distributed generation systems for local communities to be widely accepted, it is essential to develop an efficient and low-cost heat supply system. For this purpose, we propose a new heat supply system which we already presented at the ICOPE-05 Chicago. The key technology for the system is to connect compact heat supply units with a heat storage function installed in all the households of the local community, such as condominiums, by a single-loop of hot water pipe. A phase ch… Show more

“…The quasi one-dimensional MHD theory [1][2] tells us that performance characteristics of a diagonal-type, nonequilibrium MHD generator are similar to the performance characteristics of a Faraday-type MHD generator. However, the quasi one-dimensional MHD theory is only relevant when talking about the boundary conditions of the working gas plasma, and does not accurately reflect the spatial nonuniformity effects in a cross-section of the generator's channel.…”

“…Already it has been ascertained that the performance characteristics of a diagonal type non-equilibrium plasma generator can be well approached to those of the Faraday type one by the quasi one-dimensional MHD theory [1,2].…”

“…In previous studies, we developed a heat storage unit equipped with a hot water supply, floor heating, and bath heating function to be installed in each household [], [], conducted a verification test to introduce the NCG system to seven households in an experimental condominium (NEXT21 []) in Osaka City for two years beginning May 2007, and demonstrated that the system could supply sufficient heat to meet demand throughout the year [], []. The verification test was only conducted for seven households; however, it is aimed to introduce the NCG system to an apartment building of 20 or more households in which heat demand can be expected to be leveled out.…”
