The definition of lot sizes represents one of the most important decisions in production planning. Lot-sizing turns into an increasingly complex set of decisions that requires efficient solution approaches, in response to the time-consuming exact methods (LP, MIP). This paper aims to propose a Tabu list-based algorithm (TLBA) as an alternative to the Generic Materials and Operations Planning (GMOP) model. The algorithm considers a multi-level, multi-item planning structure. It is initialized using a lot-for-lot (LxL) method and candidate solutions are evaluated through an iterative Material Requirements Planning (MRP) procedure. Three different sizes of test instances are defined and better results are obtained in the large and medium-size problems, with minimum average gaps close to 10.5%.

The static bill of material data and dynamic bill of process data need to be integrated during manufacturing process of complex product, in order to wholly control the workpiece of workshop and systematically consider material requirements planning and enterprise resource planning. This paper constructed an integrated BOM model based on production plan, which is described by a sequence, and generic production structure is introduced to represent diverse needs. Finally, the paper analyzes the general machining case of "suspension beam" parts assembly production in a complex products manufacturing enterprise, validating the practicality and effectiveness of integrated BOM model.

Chemical industries usually involve continuous and large-scale production processes that require demanding inventory control systems. This paper aims to show the results of the implementation of a mixed-integer programming model (MIP) based on the Generic Materials and Operations Planning Problem (GMOP) for optimizing the inventory turnover in a fertilizer company. Results showed significant improvements for Inventory Turnover Ratios and overall costs when compared with an empirical production planning method.
