A Nanoscale Hybrid System Based on Gold Nanoparticles and Heteropolyanions

“…The nanoscale hybrids are a fascinating access to make novel properties of composite materials and to control properties up to nanoscale via simple biological or polymeric conjugation methods [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. Semiconductor nanoparticles or nanowires such as CdTe, CdS, and ZnS are considered to be a part of electronic and photonic devices.…”

“…From a practical point of view, the heterogenization or immobilization of POM-based acid catalysts is expedient owing to the ease of recycling and separation of these catalysts from the reaction products. Some of the modified POMs with reactive functional groups, such as thiol, vinyl, and methacryl groups, can be used as precursors for the immobilization of POMs [4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. For example, the immobilization of the modified Keggin POMs has been achieved by radical polymerization of the terminal olefins [4][5][6].…”

Some of the modified POMs with organic functional groups such as thiol, vinyl, and methacryl groups can be used as precursors for the immobilization of POMs [6][7][8][9][10][11].Recently, the molecular structures of Dawson POMbased organic-inorganic hybrid compounds such as [a 2 -P 2 W 17 O 61 {(RSi) 2 O}] 6À (Group A compounds with the terminal functional groups: R = HSC 3 H 6 , and NCSC 3 H 6 [12], and Group B compounds with the terminal olefins: R = {CH 2 @C(CH 3 )COO(CH 2 ) 3 } and {CH 2 @CHCOO-(CH 2 ) 3 } [13]) have been determined. The immobilization of some POM in Group A is attained by direct reaction of, e.g., the terminal HS-group with noble metal plates such as gold and platinum.…”
