A multiobjective approach for design of an off‐grid PV/Diesel system considering reliability and cost

Abstract: The aim of the present study is to solve multiobjective optimization (MO) of an off‐grid hybrid power generation system including photovoltaic (PV) and diesel generator by multiobjective version of a recently developed metaheuristic approach named crow search algorithm (CSA). For this goal, the objective functions are regarded as net present cost (NPC) and system reliability defined by loss of power supply probability (LPSP) index. In the optimization problem, operating limitations of diesel generator and unce… Show more

“…Despite being a clean and green source of energy, stand‐alone solar power plants suffers from low reliability and low efficiency. To increase the reliability and generation capacity, hybrid power plants are now being developed . Al‐Ghussain et al analysed a hybrid system comprising various combinations of solar power plant, fuel cell, and Pumped Hydro Storage in Cyprus.…”

“…In References 26,27, authors have found that MO‐CSA produces better results than MO PSO (MO‐PSO) and NSGA‐II on sizing HESs. On the other hand, in Reference 28, based on Wilcoxon signed ranks test (a nonparametric statistical hypothesis test), it has been shown that CSA finds more promising results than PSO and GA variants.…”
