A multiband circular polarization selective metasurface for microwave applications

Abstract: In this research article, a multiband circular polarization selective (CPS) metasurface is presented. A reciprocal bi-layered metasurface is designed by introducing the chirality in the structure. The top layer of the proposed metasurface is composed of circular split-ring resonator with a cross shape structure inside it. The same structure is printed on the bottom side of the proposed metasurface by rotating it at an angle of 90° to achieve chirality in the structure. The proposed metasurface is able to add C… Show more

“…The reflected or transmitted wave is a left-handed circularly polarized wave (LCP) if the polarization extinction ratio (PER) is 20 dB or above. On the other hand, the reflected or transmitted wave is a right-handed circularly polarized wave (RCP) if the PER value is below -20 dB 21 . The numerical simulation of Fig.…”

“…These extraordinary functionalities achieved in a miniaturized profile results in low system cost. Several compact metasurface-based devices such as filters 3 , polarizers 4 , 5 , and absorbers 6 , 7 are realized in the literature. The absorptive anisotropic metasurfaces that are generally used to reduce radar cross-section (RCS) require a ground plane in their geometry.…”
