“…High-temperature and compact micro heat exchangers can be manufactured using ceramic tape technology which uses fused ceramic layers to create channels with dimensions below 1 mm [200]. Metal-based microchannel heat exchangers are also of current interest because of the combination of high heat transfer performance and improved mechanical integrity [201]. Figure 44 shows a manufactured, flat extruded multichannel aluminum heat exchanger.…”

“…Dong et al [8] found that micro-pillar arrays would amplify and redistribute the electromagnetic field which enables the separation of cells or proteins with common antigens with low current, low heat dissipation and high efficiency. Mei et al [9] reported that micro-pin-fin array with catalyst coating is beneficial for a uniform velocity and temperature distribution in the reactor with a higher methanol conversion rate. Regardless of the ultimate purpose from application perspective, the in-built micro pin fin arrays fundamentally serves for augmentation of convective heat and mass transfer by forming a tortuous flow path in which the development of both thermal and concentration boundary layer ends up with separation and thereafter wake flow in the tail region due to adverse pressure gradient having to start all over again when encountering the next pin fin downstream.…”

“…34 , relating to a sample in the cathode of a PEMFC environment (about 0.6V vs. SCE), the passivation-current density must be less than 1.0 μA cm -2 ; thus, a vertical line was set as the standard in Figure 4. Table 5 shows the passive-current density of the samples in the PEMFC cathode. When the power of the Mo target is 30 W, the sample has a good corrosion resistance in the PEMFC environment, and it is also close to the technical index of DOE.…”

“…1,2 The proton-exchangemembrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is considered to be a competitive candidate as the next-generation power source for automotive, stationary and portable applications due to its prominent characteristics including a quick startup, zero emission, high efficiency, etc. [3][4][5] It is a device that directly and efficiently converts chemical energy into electricity. 6 One of the most expensive and heaviest components in a PEMFC stack is the bipolar plate (BPP).…”
