A methodology for predicting the color trend to get a three‐colored combination

Abstract: A color design/selection system for predicting the color trend based on aesthetic measures is proposed in this article. In this method, the analytic hierarchy process theory was used to evaluate the weights for four major consumption style factors in human environment, including Economy, Education, Culture, and Technology. Then 10 product imageries were selected by using the questionnaire, and mapped the images and the factors with the weighted results and clustered both variables with the corresponding ranks.… Show more

“…They believe that color can enhance the visual aesthetics and user satisfaction of a product effectively, [22][23][24] and they also analyze the user's perception of product color and to explore a quantitative research method of product color trend, which could make the product color scheme have quantitative expression, no longer rely solely on the designer's subjective judgment solely. 25,26 While, according to the market demand, Hsiao 27 obtained the design elements, the samples and their relationship between the three-color combination products through the kanesi engineering from the user's consumption style, and then constructed a color design/selection model for predicting the color trends based on the beauty measurement method. The current research shows that user's demands are difficult to be coded and measured only by the method of Kansei engineering because the user's cognitive process is subjective and vague.…”

“…The colour palette was created based on the method proposed by Hsiao et al, and a practical colour co‐ordinate system (PCCS) colour system was used to determine the psychological preference for the colour reflection of the image words. To avoid repeating the same colours on the colour wheel and colour tone, the number of colour samples in the experiment was reduced, and colours that were visually indiscernible were eliminated; however, the brightness and chrome regions remained.…”

“…6 Numerous researchers have devoted efforts to finding superior product color planning methods, particularly in the free color design of unlimited numbers and non-given positions, and have achieved varying results. For example, Hsiao et al [6][7][8][9][10] designed a color planning and simulation system through interactive genetic algorithms and extended boundary extraction algorithms to achieve optimal color planning in product design, and constructed a color design and selection system based on aesthetic measurement through the fuzzy set theory, thereby realizing the rapid identification of the optimal color planning scheme. Ou et al [11][12][13] established a quantitative color preference model to design a harmony color scheme and realized an optimal harmony color scheme for two color combinations.…”
