In change management, there emerges the problem of making timely and relevant managerial decisions. During the entire process of change, it is necessary to make decisions that ensure the success of changes, which is rather difficult in conditions of insufficient or, otherwise, abundant information and limited resources. The purpose of the study is to explore the possibilities and present the advantages to using intelligent information technologies in change management. The objectives of the study are to identify the features of decisions made during the period of changes; to identify the factors affecting the implementation of information analytical activities, and to review digital technologies that can accelerate decision making and improve its quality in change management. The results of the study have been obtained on the basis of an analysis of trends in the development of the IT market, the data on the introduction of advanced information technologies into company management for the period of 2020-2021, and an expert survey. Taking into account the formulated requirements for managerial decisions during the period of changes, a methodology for using intelligent information technologies in change management has been developed. Within the framework of the proposed methodology, there is established the relationship between the tasks of change management and information support. There is conducted a review of the digital technologies that can be used in managerial decision-making when implementing changes. The results of the study can be used in the development of an information system model that provides support for managerial decision-making during changes in the company.

In today’s manufacturing industry, companies operate in a complex and rapidly changing environment, resulting in an increasing number and variety of Manufacturing Changes (MCs). To ensure long-term competitiveness, companies must respond quickly, flexibly, and effectively to various types of MCs. While many companies have established processes to manage MCs, these processes often lack flexibility and a comprehensive methodological and digital support. Existing approaches to support these processes are often generic and difficult to transfer to a company’s unique Manufacturing Change Management (MCM) process. For this purpose, a framework and an associated application method have been developed in which MCM processes are abstracted and mathematically modeled using descriptive and characterizing attributes. To achieve a comprehensive view of the processes, the holistic framework intends to model people’s activities involved in the process, process steps, and the occurrence of information inside the process. The framework was developed through a three-phase approach, with attributes derived from the literature, case studies, and expert interviews. The framework and the associated application method were tested in a first industrial use case. In conclusion, the framework developed in this contribution supports practitioners and researchers to consistently describe and to flexibly adapt generally valid theoretical and practical approaches to company-individual MCM processes.

The problem of process models in engineering change management is their static approach, which hinders enterprises from using them in daily business. The SECPON process is a standardized implementation process for engineering changes with the additional benefit of enabling users to adjust this process according to the specific requirements of their company and product. The indication that there are influencing factors on change processes is innovative for the theory of engineering change management. Additionally, special process steps for certain branches, such as the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the aeronautical industry, and the railway industry, are integrated. Due to the wide variety of literature and survey participants, the reference process is universally applicable. The deductive–inductive research results enable business users to apply more accurate and structured engineering change processes. Researchers profit from the successful new approach to engineering change management with the adaptive process model.
