A Metal–Organic Framework/DNA Hybrid System as a Novel Fluorescent Biosensor for Mercury(II) Ion Detection

Abstract: Mercury(II) ions have emerged as a widespread environmental hazard in recent decades. Despite different kinds of detection methods reported to sense Hg(2+) , it still remains a challenging task to develop new sensing molecules to replenish the fluorescence-based apparatus for Hg(2+) detection. This communication demonstrates a novel fluorescent sensor using UiO-66-NH2 and a T-rich FAM-labeled ssDNA as a hybrid system to detect Hg(2+) sensitively and selectively. To the best of our knowledge, it has rarely been… Show more

“…Recently, Chen and co-workers prepared an adenine-based lanthanide coordination polymer nanoparticle Ad/Tb/DPA, consisting of adenine (Ad), terbium ion (Tb), and dipicolinic acid (DPA), for sensing of Hg 2+ in aqueous solution. 23 24 indicating that a MOF can employ as the platform for Hg 2+ assay in biosensing.…”

“…Many applications have been developed based on their superior properties, in areas such as biosensing, catalysis, thermal transportation, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), and pollutant adsorption [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. Among different nanostructures, the dendritic nanostructure has attracted considerable interest due to its unique morphology and properties [13][14][15][16].…”

“…Among the wellknown analytical methods, fluorescent sensors have received intense interests owing to their potential promises to onsite and real-time detection of toxic metal ions with low detection limits [1,3]. Therefore, a lot of fluorescent sensors based on small molecules for monitoring Hg 2+ have been reported [4]. Moreover, the chemists prefer to use organicinorganic materials instead of organic dye as report part for fluorescent sensor [5].…”
