A língua portuguesa como objeto de avaliações em larga escala: interpretações da mídia

Abstract

From the perspective of the hegemonic State Appraiser, the large-scale assessments-or evaluations of educational systems-has taken the leading role in implementing policies and the current composition of the educational agenda. Given this central role, the subject of large-scale assessments has received constant media attention, and expressed in news reports that present information and express opinions on the subject. Based on this consideration, we prepared a qualitative research, grounded in categorization and examination of 87 media products in three major running magazines of national circulation (See Journals, and This Is Season), the time frame from 2001 to 2011. The primary objective of the research is linked to the mapping of the impact of the Portuguese language as an object of large-scale assessments, expressed in selected media products. What about the reviews published in Portuguese? As the area was presented and represented by the weeklies? The empirical evidence suggest that the Portuguese language was treated as main point rating system and is considered a key piece of the assessments standardized the different levels of education deserving, we examined media products, and status of the protagonist directly responsible for the results measured.
